The Entryofferbridge journal

Practical writing about websites that actually work

Short, honest pieces from the Entryofferbridge studio about the things that go wrong with business websites and how to fix them. No gated PDFs, no email walls, no padding — just what we have learned from sixteen years of building sites for Australian businesses.

Why we write

A journal for people about to spend money on a website

We noticed a pattern: most enquiries we receive come from business owners who have been told they need a rebuild, but nobody has ever explained to them why. They are handed a five-figure quote and a vague promise about "modernising their digital presence", and expected to nod along. That is not helpful.

This journal exists to change that. Every article is written for someone who owns or runs a business, not for a designer trying to show off. If a piece does not help you make a better decision about your own site, we have failed to write it properly, and we will probably delete it.

What you will find here

  • Speed and performance explanations without the technical waffle.
  • Straight comparisons between options, including the cheaper ones.
  • Honest numbers pulled from real client projects, not industry averages.
  • Advice we would follow ourselves, whether or not it leads to work for us.

Why Your Website Feels Slow (And What It's Costing You)

Slow websites quietly bleed customers. Past the three-second mark, a meaningful chunk of your visitors are gone before the headline even renders. We break down the three things that cause most website slowness — uncompressed images, dead plugin weight and tired hosting — and explain why fixing them often costs far less than a full rebuild.

Redesign or Refresh? How to Decide Before You Spend a Cent

Not every struggling website needs a full rebuild. The gap between a refresh and a redesign is often five figures, and plenty of studios have a commercial reason to push you toward the expensive answer. Here is the practical, structural test we use to tell the difference — and how to ask for the audit that proves it either way.

What we write about

Four themes that come up again and again

Performance

Load speed, hosting, image weight — the boring technical stuff that quietly drives most of your traffic decisions.

Strategy

When to rebuild, when to refresh, when to leave it alone, and how to spot the difference before you commit budget.

Commerce

Cart abandonment, checkout friction, product page structure — the levers that actually move store revenue.

Accessibility

Why WCAG compliance is not just a legal obligation but a straightforward business case for way more customers.

Where the numbers come from

Every figure quoted is one we have actually seen

You will not find "88 per cent of consumers something something" on this blog. If we cite a number, it comes from a project we worked on, from a client's own analytics dashboard, or from the industry benchmark we have personally verified against real Australian sites. Anything else gets left out.

That is partly why we do not publish twenty posts a month like a content marketing machine. Writing honestly takes longer than writing filler, and we would rather publish two pieces a quarter worth reading than two a week to fill a calendar.

Putting it into practice

If reading this has made you want a fix, we do that too

The articles explain what to look for. These two services explain who can act on it if you would rather not do it yourself.

Custom Website Design

Bespoke design built around how your business actually works, not a themed template. Includes the wireframes, accessibility audit and design system handover that make a site maintainable long-term.

One email a month, the good parts only

If you would rather receive our writing in one short monthly digest than read every article as it comes out, that is what the list is for. One email per month, containing whatever we have learned that month, plus anything new on the blog. Unsubscribe in one click, no hard feelings, and we never sell or share addresses.

We use this list sparingly and never for a launch campaign. If a month goes by without anything worth saying, you will hear nothing from us that month.

Reading is good. Doing something about it is better.

If any of this has made you wonder about your own site, send us a short message. We will tell you honestly what we think needs fixing first, what can wait, and what does not need doing at all.
